Italy is the European country with the highest rate of female drivers driving a truck. The world of road haulage and in particular driving a truck or a lorry is not just a job for men. According to the International Road Transport Union (IRU), with a percentage of 6.2%, Italy holds the record for women driving a heavy vehicle in Europe. A figure above the European average, in fact with an average of 3.2% Europe is still very far from the levels of the USA, where women represent 8% of the total, and China, where the percentage drops to 5%. With a female representation of 6.2%, Italy is in fact the first in the ranking of European countries with the highest percentage of women at the wheel of a heavy vehicle. Most of the Italian Ladies Trucks are concentrated in northern Italy. This is followed by Norway with a female presence of 5.1%, and by Germany and France, where women are respectively 4.6% and 4.5% of the total. Holland with 3.2%, England with 3%. For Romania the percentage is 2.5%. Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Poland and Hungary do not reach 2%. At the bottom of the ranking is Lithuania, where the female representation stops at 0.5%. How can we do to attract even more women?
